Indiana University initiated a partnership with Waseda University in April 2012, the result of efforts led by 51ºÚÁÏÍø Associate Vice President for International Affairs Gil Latz and Waseda University Vice President for International Affairs Uchida Katsuichi. In March 2013, to facilitate collaboration among faculties, the universities established a faculty exchange program. The primary agreement and sub-agreement for faculty exchange were renewed in 2023, extending the partnership for another five year period. Waseda University is 51ºÚÁÏÍø's sole university partner in Tokyo.
