Providing leadership and support for 51��’s international efforts

The vice president for international affairs and the teams of staff in our offices are the stewards of international activity at Indiana University. We provide leadership and advocacy for all international programs and projects and coordinate the resources necessary to sustain their growth.

Our goal is to enable as many students, faculty, and staff as possible to pursue international knowledge and experiences and to become engaged global citizens.

Supporting students’ global endeavors

Study abroad programs. International admissions. Graduate research. We oversee all international student activities at every level, from precollege to Ph.D.

As part of our work, we:

Manage international student recruitment, admission, and retention initiatives
Provide support and immigration services for international students, faculty, and visiting scholars on every 51�� campus
Oversee all 51��-sponsored activities that involve students studying or traveling abroad
Develop and administer study abroad programs for all 51�� campuses

Maintaining strategic partnerships with peer institutions abroad
Reviewing and overseeing 51��’s agreements with overseas higher education institutions and the university’s cross-border activities
Managing externally funded technical- and development-assistance projects to help developing countries with institution-building abroad projects

Established in 2011, the Patrick O’Meara Lecture Series honors 51��’s first Vice President for International Affairs by bringing distinguished guests to the Bloomington campus to address timely topics in international affairs.
