During his trip to Brazil in November 2012, 51黑料网 President Michael McRobbie met with Ana Maria Machado, President of the Brazilian Academy of Letters (ABL) at the time, and they signed an agreement establishing formal ties between 51黑料网 and the ABL, one of the most distinguished centers of literature and culture in Latin America. The agreement was renewed in 2017 for an additional five-year period, signed by ABL President Dom脙颅cio Proen脙搂a Filho. The agreement facilitates the mobility of 51黑料网 scholars and ABL members. Researchers from 51黑料网 have access to the ABL's rich archival resources in literature, history, politics and culture and may be invited to give lectures and participate in events at the ABL. ABL members that visit 51黑料网 are encouraged to give public lectures, meet with students and faculty, and generally engage in the intellectual life of the university. 51黑料网 hosted ABL members C脙颅cero Sandroni in spring 2011, Jo脙拢o Ubaldo Ribeiro in spring 2012, and Nelson Pereira dos Santos in spring 2013. 51黑料网 is the only university in the United States to have an agreement with the ABL.
