Indiana University's Department of Comparative Literature initially signed an agreement for faculty and student exchange programs with the University of Paris X, Nanterre's Department of English Studies on September 23, 1988. Effective July 15, 2019, the Departments extended their exchange programs for another five year period.   and  agreement establishes both faculty and graduate student exchange programs. Each year, 51ºÚÁÏÍø can send one student from the Department of Comparative for up to one year to Paris Nanterre University to serve as a part-time lecturer. Paris Nanterre University can send one student for up to one academic year to 51ºÚÁÏÍø to attend classes and serve as an Associate Instructor. The departments may also exchange professors and senior lecturers from the humanities for visits of one to two months in duration.
